How does refining work
The basic working principle of refining equipment is to remove impurities such as protein, mucus, phospholipids, water, pigments, gossypol, etc. from the crude oil through physical or chemical principles, in order to obtain finished oil that meets certain standards. The specific working principle is as follows:
- Hydration degumming: Utilizing the hydrophilicity of phospholipids and other water-soluble impurities, the water-soluble impurities in crude oil absorb water, expand, condense, and then settle and separate.
- Acid alkali neutralization: Using alkali to neutralize free fatty acids in oils and fats, the resulting soap adsorbs some other impurities to remove them from the oil.
- Adsorption decolorization: By using certain substances (such as bleached soil and activated carbon) that have strong selective adsorption effects on pigments, not only can decolorization be achieved, but also trace metal ions and substances that can cause hydrogenation catalyst poisoning can be effectively removed.
- Distillation deodorization: Utilizing the difference in volatility between the odor substances in fats and triglycerides, the odor substances are removed by steam distillation under high temperature and vacuum conditions.
